Forty years
on the
gym floor.

From a back-street gym in Ashton to coaching the best in the world.
Olympic Sports Gym opened its doors in 1983 in Ashton-under-Lyne — started by a 25-year-old who’d worked gym floors since his late teens. It’s been here ever since.
For fourteen years it ran an Olympic boxing club, and taught Olympic lifting — producing competitors from schoolboys all the way to international level. Over thirty lads went from never having lifted a bar to top-level competition.
In 2000, Sir Alex Ferguson brought the gym’s founder into Manchester United as their Power Development Coach — Strength & Conditioning — staying eleven and a half years, working day in, day out with the players who defined that era of English football.
“The same standards set at United are set on the gym floor at OSG every single day.”
The list is long.
Plus the England Lacrosse team, Speedway World Champions, Olympic boxers, Taekwondo gold medallists, golfers, and a long list of names we’re not at liberty to share.
Five Cleggs.
One gym.
Today, Olympic Sports Gym is run by the Clegg family — Michael, Mark, Steven, Mandy and Shaun — carrying on what’s been built here over four decades. When you train here, you train with the family. That’s the difference.
